US: roadside bomb kills American soldier in Iraq

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military says an American soldier has died in a roadside bombing in Baghdad.

A statement says the Multi-National Division — Baghdad soldier died Tuesday of wounds suffered in the blast near a patrol in an eastern section of the Iraqi capital.

The statement gives no further details, saying the incident is under investigation.

At least 4,308 members of the U.S. military have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. That’s according to an Associated Press count.
