Resources Connection names COO

IRVINE, Calif. — Resources Connection Inc., which provides staffing services for accounting and finance firms, named a new chief operating officer on Tuesday.

Anthony Cherbak, who also has been named president, has served as the company’s executive vice president of operations since 2005. He assumed the responsibilities of president of international operations in 2008.

The company also said that Karen M. Ferguson has resigned as executive vice president and chief strategy officer. She also stepped down from the company’s board.

Cherbak has been tapped to fill Ferguson’s spot on the board.

The moves come after Resources Connection reported in July that it swung to a loss in its fiscal fourth quarter due to falling sales and tax and restructuring charges. In the three-month period ended May 30, Resources Connection said it lost $6.3 million, or 14 cents per share. That compared with a profit of $15.9 million, or 35 cents per share a year earlier.
