September 16th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Reliance Mobile, the GSM arm of telecom operator Reliance Communication (RCom), Wednesday said it would launch a new mobile number series beginning with the digit "8" in the Delhi-National Capital Region circle. Reliance will be the first telecom operator to shift from the practice of beginning a cell phone number with the digit "9".

September 15th, 2009 MUMBAI - Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Tuesday said it has raised Rs.413.5 crore through the issue of over 1.87 crore shares to institutional buyers on private placement basis. September 3rd, 2009 KOLKATA - Telecom operator Aircel has launched a new product in Kolkata and West Bengal that allows subscribers to pay per second, instead of the present tariff of charging by the minute. Under this plan, the base tariff for any Aircel subscriber will be one paisa per second both on local and long distance national calls, said Vipul Saurabh, the company's national head of operations and customer support, Thursday.

March 10th, 2009 NEW DELHI - In a move that will bring down the call charges further, India's telecom watchdog Monday reduced local termination charges by 33 percent to 20 paise. 'Termination charge for all types of domestic calls -- landline to landline, landline to mobile, mobile to landline and mobile-to-mobile -- has been reduced to 20 paise per minute from 30 paise per minute,' the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said in a statement.

According to the new tariff plan, an Airtel customer on the lifelong plan will have to make a minimum recharge of Rs.200 every 180 days.
