Prosecutor: No misconduct in CSI chief’s old cases

OMAHA, Neb. — A Nebraska prosecutor says a review of dozens of cases so far has found no evidence of tampering by a top investigator who is accused of planting evidence in a 2006 murder.

CSI commander David Kofoed (CO’-fed) was charged Wednesday in Cass County Court with evidence tampering and indicted Thursday on four federal charges, including falsifying records.

He’s been accused of planting evidence in the car of two wrongly accused suspects in the 2006 murders of Wayne and Sharmon Stock at their farm in southeast Nebraska.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Friday that his office is still poring over other cases.

He also says he has not yet been contacted by defense attorneys to reopen closed criminal cases that Kofoed worked on.
