October 7th, 2009 TAWANG - Residents of Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh are thrilled over Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama's visit to the place, considered as one of the last vestiges of Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism. Dalai Lama is scheduled to visit the 400-year-old monastery in November.

October 3rd, 2009 TAWANG - On the occasion of China's 60th National Day, Indian and Chinese army personnel jointly participated in celebrations at the Bum La border check post, located in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang District. Indian army personnel were invited along with their families by the Chinese army to join them in the celebrations.

September 22nd, 2009 DHARAMSALA - Tibetans living in exile in Dharamshala on Tuesday prayed for the success of Dalai Lama's impending visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Although the annual ritual of prayers is dedicated for highest Buddhist leader's health and well being, but this year a large number of monks and nuns from various monasteries have assembled at the Theckchen Choelling Tsuglag Khang monastery to wish the Dalai Lama a good luck for his upcoming visit to the north-eastern state.

September 20th, 2009 TAWANG - India has moved hundreds of troops to the Chinese border along the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, but an army officer said Sunday that this was a routine winter exercise. A visiting IANS correspondent saw 60 to 70 trucks carrying soldiers proceeding towards the Chinese border in Tawang and nearby posts, snaking through a rough mountainous terrain at an altitude of over 14,000 feet.

June 10th, 2009 SHILLONG - The Indian Air Force today began an aerial survey to trace the transport plane with 14 on board that went missing over the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh and is feared to have crashed. According to sources, IAF AN-32 aircraft with eight IAF personnel and six civilians took off from Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh and went missing shortly after.

June 10th, 2009 ITANAGAR - Wreckage of the Indian Air Force AN-32 aircraft, which went missing in Arunachal Pradesh with 14 people on board, has been found. The IAF had began an aerial survey to trace the transport aircraft that went missing over the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

June 9th, 2009 SHILLONG - An Air Force transport plane with at least 14 people on board crashed on Tuesday in Arunachal Pradesh. Two helicopters have been sent to find out the debris of the plane.

April 3rd, 2009 ITANAGAR - President Pratibha Patil will visit Kibito, a forward army base along the Chinese border, today. On Thursday, President Patil visited Tawang, the district headquarters located at 9000 feet above sea level near Sino-India border.

April 1st, 2009 NEW DELHI - A Business Boeing Jet (BBJ), patterned on the US president's office-in-the-sky Air Force One, was inducted into the Communications Squadron of the Indian Air Force (IAF) by President Pratibha Patil Wednesday. Patil will be flying to Lilabari in the aircraft on her way to Arunachal Pradesh.

March 31st, 2009 NEW DELHI - President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will be visting Arunachal Pradesh for three days beginning Wednesday, when she would arrive in Itanagar. According to official sources, Patil is slated to deliver the convocation address at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) during her visit.
