Police gun down three abductors in Noida

September 11th, 2009 NOIDA - A student of Amity University was killed Friday when the car he was travelling in was hit by a heavy vehicle on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, police said. According to police, Gurinder Singh, a second year engineering student, was with two other students in the car when it was hit by the heavy vehicle at 8.00 a.m.

July 31st, 2009 RANCHI - Three kidnappers were killed in a gun battle with police here Friday and the son of a businessman was rescued, police said. Lav Kumar, 22, son of Banti Bhatia, was abducted Thursday night when he was returning home.

July 21st, 2009 GREATER NOIDA - Three men fled with a transport vehicle of a media house after seriously injuring the driver on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway early Tuesday. The men had requested a lift from the driver.

July 5th, 2009 NOIDA - A property dealer's body was found in an abandoned car here Sunday, police said. Anshu Tiwari, who operated his real estate business from Barola locality under the Sector 49 police station, had gone with his associate Manoj to Greater Noida, police said.

June 19th, 2009 NOIDA - The Noida police Friday registered an abduction case against three doctors here for allegedly kidnapping their employee, officials said. Amit Kumar, a resident of Sitapur in Delhi, Friday lodged a complaint with the Noida police that his brother Anil Kumar had been missing for two weeks and he suspected his brother's employers had kidnapped him, police said.

June 19th, 2009 NOIDA - Two students in their early 20s were killed when a water tanker hit their motorcycle here Friday afternoon, police said. Ravindra Yadav and Pankaj Yadav were coming from Sector-60 towards Mamura crossing when a water tanker hit their motorcycle, police added.

May 12th, 2009 NOIDA - The Noida Police Tuesday claimed to have busted a major auto-lifting gang with the arrest of 10 people and the recovery of three cars. A joint team of different police stations here arrested the 10 from various areas.

April 24th, 2009 NOIDA - A eunuch was critically injured after being shot at by members of a rival gang Friday apparently over a 'territory' dispute, police said. According to police, a group of eunuchs of the Atique gang, aiming to muscle into the 'territory' of the Pappu group, shot at Rekha (32), who protested their entry into the phase II area.

April 23rd, 2009 NOIDA - One person was killed when an autorickshaw collided with a dumper on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, police said Thursday. The accident occurred Wednesday night on the expressway when the speeding dumper collided with the autorickshaw, police said.

April 6th, 2009 NOIDA - Three unidentified gunmen opened fire near the gate of a prominent private hospital in Noida Monday night, injuring two people, police said. The firing took place outside the Kailash Hospital owned by Mahesh Sharma, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Noida.

February 27th, 2009 NOIDA - A jeweller was beaten up and robbed of cash and jewellery as he was on his way home after closing his shop in Noida, the police said Thursday. Mahesh Chand Verma, who owns a jewellery store in Bhangel Phase-11 area in Noida, was on his way home when he was intercepted the robbers.

February 2nd, 2009 NOIDA - A notorious criminal has been killed in a shootout with the Noida police, officials said Tuesday. Nawal Bihari, a 32-year-old who came from Palamu, Jharkhand, and was staying at Lal Kuan in Ghaziabad, was shot dead Monday night, the police said.

January 16th, 2009 NOIDA - A six-year-old boy has gone missing from his home in Noida, the police said Saturday. 'Shivam, son of Brij Lal, a factory worker, went missing Friday evening from his home in Garhi Chowkhandi,' a police officer said.

January 6th, 2009 NOIDA - At least three people were killed and four others injured in two separate accidents near here Wednesday, the police said. In the first accident, two people travelling in an autorickshaw which was coming from Vijay Nagar to Noida, were killed and four others injured after the autorickshaw was hit by a State Roadways bus around 12 a.m.

January 1st, 2009 NOIDA - Dense fog in Noida and on the expressway led to several accidents Friday, in which two men were killed and many others injured, the police said. Santosh, a native of Gorakhpur, was killed and Subhash critically injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding car near the sector 34 traffic signal in Noida.
