In a regulatory statement, it received an engineering contract worth Rs.488 crore from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam, a government utility to oversee development of water supply and sewerage system in the state.

L&T has received a contract from Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVNL) and Neyveli Lignite Corp for setting up coal handling plants at Anpara in Uttar Pradesh and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, the company said in a regulatory statement.

World Bank okays Rs.1,332 crore loan for Uttar PradeshJune 7th, 2009 LUCKNOW - The World Bank has given its nod to a whopping Rs.1,332 crore (Rs.13.32 billion) soft loan for reclamation of sodic land in Uttar Pradesh - a move that will help an estimated 250,000 farmers. Making the announcement at a press conference here Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said, "The scheme would help reclaim a huge chunk of about 130,000 hectares of sodic land in the state."
The scheme, an extension of two previous phases of a similar exercise undertaken in the state, will benefit an estimated 250,000 farmers, he said.
Deficit of Rs.84.6 bn in Maharashtra interim budgetMarch 18th, 2009 MUMBAI - The Maharashtra government's interim budget for the current year, presented Tuesday, shows a yawning deficit of over Rs.84.6 billion (Rs.8,462 crore), but no new taxes have been imposed and there has been no cut on developmental expenditure. Haryana gets Rs.100 bn from Planning CommissionJanuary 22nd, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Planning Commission has agreed to allocate an outlay of Rs.100 billion (Rs.10,000 crore) to Haryana for 2009-10, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Friday. The outlay is over 50 percent more than the total outlay of Rs.66.5 billion (Rs.6,650 crore) approved for the state last fiscal.
