ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the apex court’s verdict which disqualified the former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif from contesting elections.

According to The News, the petition was filed by the Attorney General of Pakistan, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa.

Khosa met President Asif Ali Zardari before filing the petition, sources said.

Four different petitions have been filed by the Pakistan government against the SC’s verdict.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan in its verdict on February 25 had termed the Sharif brothers’ ‘ineligible’ for contesting elections.

The verdict saw large scale public protest across Pakistan. (ANI)
