One more arrested for Noida gang rape

June 22nd, 2009 NOIDA - Eight men and three women were arrested here for smuggling and selling drugs in the national capital region (NCR) and 100 kg hashish worth Rs.20 lakh was recovered from their possession, police said Monday. On Sunday night during a routine check at the Sector-8 checkpost in Noida, the police stumbled upon a car carrying a man in an army soldier's uniform and three women, police said.

June 2nd, 2009 NOIDA - Two luxury cars were recovered from three suspected members of auto lifters in this satellite town of Delhi, police said Tuesday. Police Monday night arrested Jitendra, Shankar and Nitin from their hide-out at a flat in Sector 47.

May 12th, 2009 NOIDA - The Noida Police Tuesday claimed to have busted a major auto-lifting gang with the arrest of 10 people and the recovery of three cars. A joint team of different police stations here arrested the 10 from various areas.

April 27th, 2009 NOIDA - A 32-year-old eunuch, who was shot at by members of a rival gang over a 'territory' dispute last week, died in a hospital here, police said Monday. Rekha Tiwari died around midnight Sunday.

April 24th, 2009 NOIDA - A eunuch was critically injured after being shot at by members of a rival gang Friday apparently over a 'territory' dispute, police said. According to police, a group of eunuchs of the Atique gang, aiming to muscle into the 'territory' of the Pappu group, shot at Rekha (32), who protested their entry into the phase II area.

April 15th, 2009 MUMBAI - Three people have been arrested and police were looking for three more in connection with the gang rape last Saturday of a US national studying here, Mumbai Police said Wednesday. An official from the Trombay police station said the victim, a student of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), located in Trombay in northeast Mumbai, had lodged a police complaint of gang rape.

March 20th, 2009 NOIDA - A 46-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in a moving car Wednesday night. The woman was badly thrashed by a group of five men before being finally dumped at a secluded place in Sector-31, police said.

March 18th, 2009 GREATER NOIDA - The police in Greater Noida Tuesday arrested eight persons and busted a gang adulterating kerosene and diesel and selling the spurious stuff in the market. However, the gang's kingpin is yet to be arrested.

February 27th, 2009 NOIDA - Five people allegedly involved in the smuggling of idols were arrested and an antique idol worth Rs.50 million in the international market was recovered from their possession, the police said Thursday. 'Vinay Malik, Ramesh Prasad Sinha, Ashok Kumar Singh, Pawan Jindal and Naresh Sharma were arrested Wednesday night in raids across Noida and an idol weighing about 2.50 kg and estimated to be worth Rs.50 million in the international market was recovered from their possession,' Senior Superintendent of Police Navin Arora told IANS.

January 13th, 2009 NOIDA - Eight people were arrested here Wednesday for allegedly abducting and raping a Delhi University student earlier this month, police said. They were arrested from an under-construction building in Sector 63 after a tip-off, Superintendent of Police Ashok Tripathi said.

January 11th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Four members of an inter-state gang were arrested Monday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a Delhi University student last week. The 18-year-old girl, a resident of Noida, was abducted by three car-borne men from Sunday bazaar in Sector 58 police station area Jan 4 when she went with her mother for shopping.

January 9th, 2009 NOIDA - Two more suspects have been arrested for the gang rape of an MBA student in Noida by 10 men that shocked residents of the Indian capital and surrounding areas earlier this week, police said Saturday. The two teenagers were arrested Friday night during searches conducted on their houses, according to the police.

January 8th, 2009 NOIDA - The Samajwadi Party activists Friday protested the arrest of seven men from a village in Noida for the alleged rape of a management student earlier this week, saying that while justice should be done, 'no innocent should be booked'. Samajwadi Party workers blocked the DND Expressway, bringing the traffic to a halt for nearly 30 minutes.

January 6th, 2009 NOIDA - A National Commission for Women (NCW) team Wednesday came here to inquire into the alleged rape of a young woman by 10 men that has shocked residents of the Indian capital and surrounding areas. The team visited the Sector 39 police station in Noida, where the case was registered, and also met the victim, according to a commission member.

January 5th, 2009 NOIDA - A 21-year-old management student from south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area was waylaid by around 10 youths when she was leaving a Noida shopping mall along with a friend Monday evening, taken to a desolate spot and raped by turns. Five of the men were arrested Tuesday, the police said.
