One killed, two injured in firing incident at Ludhiana rly station

October 12th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 41 people were killed and 45 others injured Monday in a suicide bomb attack at a crowded market in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said. The bomb exploded near a convoy of the security forces in Alpuri tehsil, the headquarters of Shangla district, near the insurgency-hit Swat valley.

September 26th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least four people were killed in a suicide attack on a police station in restive north-west Pakistan, television station GEO TV reported Saturday. The attackers used a pickup truck to carry out the attack in Bannu in North-West Frontier Province.

September 17th, 2009 JAMMU - Two Border Security Force (BSF) men were injured in firing by Pakistani troops that continued Friday, military sources said. The first burst of firing took place Thursday evening and it was directed at the Nikowal border post, about 30 km west of Jammu.

September 1st, 2009 MUMBAI - Police on Tuesday resorted to firing in the air and baton charging irate passengers near a Mumbai railway station. According to preliminary television reports, the incident took place at the Nala Sopara Railway Station nin Thane District, as the passengers expressed their anger over the delay and disruption of local train services.

August 31st, 2009 SRINAGAR - At least two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and four others injured in two separate militant strikes in Srinagar on Monday. In a first incident, militants opened indiscriminate firing in Lal Chowk area, killing two CRPF jawans.

June 29th, 2009 BARAMULLA - At least two people were killed and 10 others injured, including policemen, in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir after police resorted to firing to quell protests over an alleged misbehaviour with a local woman here on Monday. Hundreds of protestors took to streets to protest and demand action against the guilty persons.

June 16th, 2009 RANCHI - Four police jawans were killed and another five injured in an encounter between the police and the naxalite that took place at Manatu police station area of Palamu district of Jharkhand on Tuesday. The police were returning after a long range patrolling when the naxalite opened firing on them.

June 3rd, 2009 NALANDA - Two separate road mishaps in Bihar's Nalanda and Aurangabad districts left at least eight persons killed and 20 left injured, 11 of them quite critically on Wednesday. According to police, five persons were killed on the spot and 18 others injured when a truck collided head-on with a tractor-trolley at village Fatehpur in the State's Nalanda district on Wednesday morning.

May 28th, 2009 Subhash Nagar,JODHEWAL - Four persons were killed and eleven others injured as the roof of a building collapsed in Punjab. The incident happened when the labourers were renovating the building.

May 20th, 2009 JALANDHAR - At least six children and the driver of a school bus were killed Wednesday morning when their vehicle collided with a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Punjab's Jalandhar district. While three students and the driver died on the spot, three critically injured children were declared brought dead at a hospital in Ludhiana city.

May 7th, 2009 KOLKATA - One man was killed and three policemen sustained splinter injuries when bombs were hurled outside a booth during polling at Asansol in West Bengal's Burdwan district Thursday. Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia told IANS: 'There was an incident of bomb hurling outside a booth in Asansol, in which three policemen were injured.

April 25th, 2009 MUMBAI - One person was injured during a firing incident near the Dahisar subway in Mumbai. Police said that the injured person has been admitted to hospital, and added that he could have been a victim of an attempted robbery.

March 23rd, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - A police officer has been suspended and a judicial probe ordered into an incident of police firing that left one person dead and several injured in Orissa's Dhenkanal district, authorities said Monday. The officer in charge of the local police station has been suspended and Rs.100,000 ex-gratia payment has been announced for the family of the victim, an official statement said.

March 23rd, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - A judicial probe has been ordered into Sunday's police firing incident in Orissa's Dhenkanal District that left one person dead and several injured.ccording to an official statement released on Monday, the officer-in-charge of the local police station has been suspended, and 100,000 rupees ex-gratia payment has been announced for the family of the victim. "A judge of the rank of district judge will conduct the probe," the statement said.

February 23rd, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A 40-year-old man was critically injured when his inebriated nephew fired his pistol during a marriage ceremony in the Bulandshahr Industrial Area here, the police said Sunday. According to the police, Sanjeev Sharma, 26, went to attend a wedding at the Green Valley Farms in Bulandshahr Industrial Area Saturday night.
