Obama visits Indiana to highlight recovery efforts

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is visiting a recreational vehicle plant in northern Indiana on Wednesday to highlight his administration’s efforts to rescue the economy.

Obama will travel to Wakarusa (wah-kah-ROO’-sah), near Elkhart, where he is to deliver remarks at the Monaco RV factory. The plant was purchased in June by Navistar International after its previous owner filed for bankruptcy protection.

It’s Obama’s second visit to the area, which had an unemployment rate of 16.8 percent in June. Obama traveled to Elkhart in February while making a pitch for the federal economic stimulus bill.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says the president wants to talk about the steps the administration is taking to get the economy back on track.
