KOLKATA - Women, as well as minority and economically backward candidates appearing for railway recruitment exams will soon be exempted from postal order charges, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said Saturday.

Weve already taken the decision not to take the postal order fees from women, minority and candidates belonging to economically backward section of our society who would appear in the railway examinations.

Ive seen in my life that there are many candidates who cannot appear in examinations just because of the high postal order fees, Banerjee told a Bengali television channel, Star Ananda, in an interview.

Well implement that in the railways soon, she said, adding, Ill be glad if all the government departments take up this initiative and stop charging postal order fees from women, minority and economically challenged candidates.”
