Nine killed, several others injured in US drone strike in South Waziristan

September 7th, 2009 PESHAWAR - At least 15 more Taliban extremists were killed in Pakistan military's counter insurgency operation and a drone attack in the Khyber and North Waziristan areas. While 10 militants were killed in the Tirah valley during anti-militancy offensive, a US drone targeted an alleged militant hideout and a madrassa in Machikhel village in North Waziristan killing five persons on the spot besides injuring six others, The Daily Times reports "The strike targetted a madrassa and an adjoining house in Machikhel village in North Waziristan.

August 27th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a US drone strike South Waziristan's Kani Goram area on Thursday. According to sources, three missiles were fired from unmanned Predator aircrafts targeting a house in the region killing eight people on the spot besides injuring many others.

August 11th, 2009 WANA - At least 12 extremists were killed in US surveillance plane attack in South Waziristan Agency. According to sources, US drone fired missiles at a training camp of extremists established at a house of Zangikhel in Kani Karam area of SWA.

August 11th, 2009 PESHAWAR - A US drone strike in north western Pakistan killed at least 10 suspected militants on Tuesday, authorities said. The attack targeted an insurgents' camp in South Waziristan near the Afghan border, BBC reported.

August 5th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - The wife of Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud was killed in a suspected US drone strike in northwestern Pakistan's South Waziristan tribal agency, TV channels reported Wednesday. TV reports said the drone hit the house of Akramuddin, father-in-law of Mehsud, killing four people and injuring two others.

July 7th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 14 suspected Taliban insurgents were killed when a US Predator aircraft fired several missiles on a militant hideout in South Waziristan on Tuesday. According to sources, the US drone fired two missiles at a suspected hide out of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud in Zangra area of Ladha tehsil of the province, killing 14 persons on the spot besides injuring several others.

July 3rd, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 13 people were killed and several others injured in two missile hits carried out by unmanned US Predator aircrafts in South Waziristan on Friday. Sources said the US drone targeted a suspected terror camp in Kokatkhel village of Sarokai area, and fired several missiles killing 13 persons on the spot besides wounding several others.

June 23rd, 2009 PESHAWAR - Six people were killed and several others injured in a US drone attack Tuesday in the South Waziristan agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) along the border with Afghanistan, a media report said. Quoting sources, Geo TV said US drones fired three missiles at a house in Ladha sub district, a stronghold of Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud.

June 18th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - In yet another drone strike in less than a week in South Waziristan, at least five people were killed and several others injured when two US Predator aircrafts fired missiles at a suspected Taliban hideout in the Wana region on Thursday. According to the sources, the drones targeted the hideouts of Taliban commander Mullah Nazir in Shah Alam and Raghzai area near Wana, firing five missiles.

May 16th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - An unmanned aircraft, suspected to be US operated, fired two missiles at a militant hideout in Pakistan's ungoverned tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing nine people, a security official said Tuesday. Four more people were injured in the airstrike, which also hit a compound.

May 12th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least eight people were killed and several injured Tuesday when a suspected US drone fired missiles at militant hideouts in Pakistan's South Waziristan that borders Afghanistan, media reports said. Official sources were quoted as saying that militant hideouts were targeted at the Sarakhora area of South Waziristan and eight bodies had been recovered from the debris.

April 19th, 2009 PESHAWAR - Three persons were reportedly killed on Sunday in a suspected US drone strike targeted at a militant hideout in Gangi Khel town of South Waziristan district. The Dawn quoted a security official of the region, as saying five other persons were also injured in the attack.

April 1st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least twelve suspected terrorists were killed and several others were injured in US drone strike in the Orakzai Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Wednesday. The US Predator drones fired missiles at a suspected Taliban camp in the Khadzai area close to the Afghan border, The News reported.
