New century may belong to India or not, time will tell. It will be left to our great grand children to comment with facts. They will also identify the missed opportunities. Politicians in India are today’s Maharajas. They have everything to gain by selling hope. We are nowhere near most countries in quality of life, health care, infrastructure, education, employability, per capita productivity, pension plans, social security, crime control, etc. For the last 63 years, several politicians have said similar things. We all know that in the same period several countries have performed much better in the areas mentioned above.
