Cops: Driver hits fences, garages, pole and house

FREMONT, Neb. — Police said a woman left a $26,000 trail of destruction behind her before she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Sgt. Ed Watts said the woman’s car struck a fence as she was trying to turn into an alley Thursday night.

The car continued north and hit utility pole. She then tried to turn into a garage but struck it, then went across a yard and hit another fence, then rammed through another fence and yard and hit a house and garage.

Police estimated the damage at $26,000, plus $5,000 damage to the woman’s car.

Police arrested 58-year-old Janis Brown. She posted $200 bond and was released from jail.

Attempts to reach Brown to comment on Friday were unsuccessful. There is no public listing for her phone number.
