1 US, 2 foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL — Military officials in Afghanistan say two foreign soldiers and one American service member have been killed in bomb attacks in the troubled nation.

The NATO-led coalition says the two foreign soldiers were killed in a bomb strike Friday in the east. Their nationalities were not released.

The coalition said in a statement Saturday that the American was killed of wounds sustained in a separate bomb attack in the south.

Violence in Afghanistan has surged in recent months as insurgents grow bolder and the U.S. debates whether to send additional troops to the country.
