LONDON - Former tennis star Monica Seles has opened up about her eating disorder that she struggled with for nine years.

The 35-years-old Seles said she started eating excessively soon after she was knifed in the shoulder during a match in 1993. And she again resorted to food for comfort when her father died in 1998, reports thesun.co.uk.

She said: ‘Food became my best friend. I was lonely and I would just eat. It was my coping mechanism. Food was how I dealt with stress.’

Seles has just written a book called ‘Getting A Grip’ to help women battle food addiction.
