The report said the security forces bombed two Taliban hideouts Thursday in the Chapri Feroz Khel and Atman Khel areas, killing at least six militants including a local Taliban commander.

June 23rd, 2009 ISLAMABAD - A militant leader, who openly challenged Pakistani Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud, was killed in north-western Pakistan Tuesday, media reports said. Qari Zainuddin was fatally shot in his house in the town of Dera Ismail Khan, located near the lawless South Waziristan tribal district, the main stronghold of Mehsud.

June 11th, 2009 LAHORE - The Pakistan Army has claimed that it has killed at least 100 more Taliban during its offensive in the Jani Khel and Baka Khel areas of Frontier Region (FR) in Bannu. According to sources, Taliban commander Sher Alam has also been killed in the operation.

TNSM spokesperson Izat Khan asserted that being Muslims is the right of the people of the Malakand division, and therefore, they also have the right to impose the sharia in their area and decide the matters according to the Quranic rulings.

January 7th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Suspected Taliban militants Thursday assassinated a senior government official and his guard in Pakistan's volatile tribal region, officials and residents said. Aman Ullah, a local administration officer, was on his way to his office in Razmak, a town in troubled North Waziristan that borders Afghanistan, when assailants sprayed his vehicles with bullets.
