Mass. woman charged in boy’s Father’s Day beating

WORCESTER, Mass. — The girlfriend of a man accused of fatally beating his 7-year-old son to death on Father’s Day has been indicted on new charges.

Tiffany Hyman, of Worcester, Mass., was indicted Tuesday on charges of being an accessory after the fact of assault and battery on a child and reckless endangerment. She was also indicted on a new assault charge in the June 23 death of Nathaniel Turner, of Eufala, Ala.

Nathaniel’s father, Leslie Schuler, has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Hyman pleaded not guilty to two earlier assault charges and is being held on $50,000 bail. Police say they don’t believe she struck Nathaniel but could have intervened. Authorities say the couple didn’t take the boy to the hospital until the next day.

Hyman’s lawyer did not immediately return a call Tuesday.
