September 7th, 2009 RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh police Monday gunned down a deputy commander of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and arrested four of his colleagues, officials said. June 19th, 2009 RAIPUR - Maoist guerrillas shot dead two district force (DF) personnel in Chhattisgarhs Rajnandgaon district in a remote forest area Sunday morning, police said. Heavily armed Maoists attacked five police personnel in Madanwara, in Manpur locality, killing two DF cops, deputy inspector general of police Pawan Deo told IANS.

March 25th, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - A woman Maoist rebel was Tuesday killed by security forces in a gunbattle in Orissa's Kandhamal district, an official said. Getting information that a group of Maoists had gathered in the forest near Daringbadi area of the district for a meeting, police and special operations group personnel raided the area.

February 5th, 2009 RANCHI - Five police personnel were injured in a landmine blast by the Maoist rebels in Jharkhand Friday, a police officer said. When the five cops were returning to the Bundu police station, rebels belonging to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) detonated a landmine near a bridge situated under the Bundu block, around 70 km from here.

February 3rd, 2009 RANCHI - A top Maoist rebel, who escaped from an Andhra Pradesh jail in 1988, was arrested Wednesday in Jharkhand's Bokaro district, the police said. Mohammad Hussain, who operated under different names like Shankar Ramakant and Sagar, was caught by the police in Bokaro on a tip-off, but officials declined to reveal the exact location of his arrest.

According to the police, three Maoist rebels including the sub zonal commander of CPI-Maoist, Nitish Yadav was arrested from the Palamau district, some 190 km from Ranchi Tuesday.

January 16th, 2009 RANCHI - Six security personnel were killed in a landmine blast by Maoist rebels while seven guerrillas were arrested in a separate incident in Jharkhand Saturday, a police officer said. The landmine was detonated Saturday afternoon by Maoist rebels between Manika and Patki on the national highway in Latehar district, about 140 km from here.

December 30th, 2008 RANCHI - Five Maoist rebels were arrested from a house here Wednesday and Maoist literature was seized from them, the police said. The rebels belonging to People Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were nabbed from a house in Laxminagar colony, which comes under the Sukhdeonagar police station.
