Manmohan Singh arrives in Italy for G8-G5 summit

September 23rd, 2009 FRANKFURT - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, late Wednesday on his way to the US to attend the G20 summit in Pittsburg.

July 14th, 2009 Sharm el-SHEIKH - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his delegation arrived at this Egyptian town Thursday evening, just in time for Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon to meet his Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir. The Tuesday night meeting will be followed by talks between Manmohan Singh and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Thursday 10.30 a.m.

July 13th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left Monday for a four-day trip to Paris, where he will attend the French National Day parade, and the Egyptian resort town of Sharm-el-Sheikh for the 15th Non Aligned Movement (NAM) summit. Manmohan Singh, who is the first foreign leader to be accorded the honour of being chief guest at the Bastille Day parade, will be in Paris for a day before leaving for Sharm-el-Sheikh.

July 12th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Two days after returning from the G8-G5 summit in Italy, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is leaving for France Monday on a 24-hour visit before flying to Egypt to attend the non-aligned summit where he will also meet with Pakistan's prime minister on the sidelines. In Paris, Manmohan Singh will be the guest of honour at the Bastille Day, officially celebrated as the French National Day on July 14.

July 9th, 2009 L'AQUILA - Prime MInister Manmohan Singh briefly met with US President Barack Obama during the outreach meeting of G8 and G5 leaders at their summit here Thursday. Both leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, Indian officials said here.

July 7th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left for Italy Tuesday to participate in the G8-G5 summit to be held in the earthquake-hit mountain town of L'Aquila, 100 km northeast of Rome. The prime minister will be attending outreach meetings of the G8, the world's most wealthy and industrialised countries, and G5, the major emerging economies in the world, during his four-day trip.

July 6th, 2009 NEW DELHI - With the national budget being presented in parliament Monday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be heading for the Italian mountain town of L'Aquila Tuesday to take part in discussions with leaders of the world's most powerful and industrialized nations who meet for their annual G-8 summit. The town was devastated by an earthquake just three months ago.

June 15th, 2009 YEKATERINBURG - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg Monday night to attend the first BRIC summit of Brazil, Russia, India and China and the summit of the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). He will also be meeting Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday, in the first high-level contact between India and Pakistan since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

March 24th, 2009 AMRITSAR - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in this Sikh holy city Monday evening on a two-day private visit during which he will pray at the Golden Temple. The prime minister and his wife Gursharan Kaur will also go to the Hindu Durgiana temple, close to the Golden Temple, officials said.

March 10th, 2009 NEW DELHI - If his doctors give him the go-ahead, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is recuperating from a coronary bypass surgery, will go to London to attend the G20 summit in London April 2. This will be the prime minister's first overseas visit this year and the first after his bypass surgery nearly six weeks ago.
