October 10th, 2009 RANCHI - The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and eight others on Saturday for alleged money laundering, diversion of State funds and making huge illegal investments abroad. The ED filed an Enforcement Case Information Report before the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Saturday.

September 19th, 2009 RANCHI - A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator and his brother own undeclared assets worth more than Rs.10 crore (Rs.100 million), an official of the Income Tax (IT) department said Saturday. According to the official, JMM legislator from Giridih district Munna Lal owns undeclared assets worth Rs.10.20 crore in his name and in the names of his relatives.

September 16th, 2009 RANCHI - The vigilance department of Jharkhand will seek help from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the assets of a former chief minister as well as other ex-ministers. The vigilance department has submitted a detailed status report of progress made in investigating the assets of former ministers to the Jharkhand High Court.

August 31st, 2009 RANCHI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday carried out searches at the residences of health department officials in Jharkhand, including former state health secretary Pradeep Kumar. The CBI conducted searches at 13 places in Ranchi, Hazaribagh and Daltanganj, informed sources said.

August 18th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Assam Governor Syed Sibtey Razi has been asked to demit office following complaints that his aides and staff allegedly made money for transfers and postings when he was governor of Jharkhand, said highly placed government sources. Razi, who was sworn in as Assam's governor on July 27 and has been apparently camping in Delhi, has reportedly sought more time before putting in his papers, sources told IANS.

August 3rd, 2009 RANCHI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday filed graft cases against senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official who had served as an aide to former Jharkhand governor Syed Sibte Razi. Two cases of disproportionate assets were lodged against Avinash Kumar, officer on special duty (OSD) of Razi, said a CBI official.

August 3rd, 2009 RANCHI - Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials Monday raided the houses of senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials who had served as aides to former Jharkhand governor Syed Sibte Razi. According to CBI sources, the raids were conducted simultaneously at houses of Avinash Kumar, who was officer on special duty (OSD) to Razi after president's rule was imposed in the state January 2009; and Rajesh Thakur, who was Razi's personal secretary since he took over as governor in 2004.

July 25th, 2009 RANCHI - Vigilance department officials have seized gold biscuits, diamonds, silver, and other jewellery worth millions of rupees and documents of land and property holdings from the houses of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and three former ministers, an official said here Saturday. The officials had raided the houses of Koda and three former ministers Friday.

July 25th, 2009 RANCHI - Former human resources minister of Jharkhand and independent legislator Bandu Tirkey has been booked under the Arms Act after officials found an unlicensed revolver and 13 live cartridges at his house here, police said Saturday. Officials of the vigilance department had raided the houses of former chief minister and Lok Sabha MP Madhu Koda and three ex-ministers, including Tirkey, in connection with a graft case.

July 24th, 2009 RANCHI - Vigilance sleuths Friday raided the houses of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and three ex-ministers in a corruption case, officials said. The ex-ministers whose houses were searched by the vigilance sleuths are Kamlesh Singh (Nationalist Congress Party), Bandhu Tirkey (Independent) and Bhanu Pratap Sahi (Independent).

June 14th, 2009 AGRA - A spurious ghee, or clarified butter, manufacturing unit was raided and hundreds of tins of the adulterated product seized in this Uttar Pradesh city, police said Sunday. A police team along with health officers of the Agra Municipal Corporation raided the factory in Jharna nullah locality amid a dense babool forest and found ghee being manufactured from animal fat boiled in huge iron pans.
