L&T bags Rs.2,000-crore order from GMR

October 14th, 2009 MUMBAI - Construction and engineering major Larsen and Toubro Wednesday said it has bagged orders worth Rs.966 crore from Sterlite Industries, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and Gujarat Water Infrastructure. In a regulatory statement, it received an engineering contract worth Rs.488 crore from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam, a government utility to oversee development of water supply and sewerage system in the state.

October 13th, 2009 RAIPUR - India's largest private sector steel maker, Tata Steel, will invest Rs.2,000 crore on environment conservation at its Rs.19,500-crore plant coming up in Chhattisgarh's militancy-hit Bastar district. "Tata Steel officials made a presentation at a public hearing on Monday for environmental clearance and committed to invest Rs.2,000 crore on environment conservation," Bastar district collector M.S.

September 11th, 2009 CHENNAI - Power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won a Rs.1,300-crore order from NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Co Ltd (NTECL) for supplying boilers, turbines and generators. NTECL, which is setting up a 3x500 MW power plant at Vallur near here, is a joint venture between power utility NTPC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

September 9th, 2009 MUMBAI - Realty firm Entertainment World Developers will invest Rs.2,000 crore for setting up 20 malls across India under its rent-free revenue sharing concept for emerging brands. "We will invest Rs.2,000 crore for setting up 20 malls spread across one million square feet in 11 states and 20 cities by 2011," said company chairman and managing director Manish Kalani.

August 17th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Monday demanded Rs.2,000 crore from the central government to purchase power for the drought hit areas of the state. Mayawati met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence here, though she skipped an internal security meeting attended by chief ministers.

July 25th, 2009 CHENNAI - City-based engineering and infrastructure firm BGR Energy Systems has posted a net profit of Rs.20.23 crore for the quarter ended June 30 as against Rs.17.23 crore reported in the like period last year, a growth of 17 percent. The company's turnover during the period stood at Rs.311 crore as compared to Rs.306 crore in the April-June quarter last fiscal, BGR said in a statement.

July 24th, 2009 MUMBAI - Operating profits of construction major Hindustan Construction Co (HCC) rose 22 percent to Rs.112 crore for the first quarter this fiscal, as compared to Rs.91 crore posted in the year-ago period. The company's turnover increased 8 percent to a little over Rs.964 crore from Rs.895 crore in the corresponding period the previous fiscal, the company said in a regulatory statement Friday.

July 1st, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged orders aggregating Rs.651 crore (Rs.6.51 billion/$135 million) for two hydrocarbon projects. It has won a Rs.440-crore contract from HPCL-Mittal Energy to build a greenfield refinery at Bathinda, the company said in a regulatory statement Wednesday.

June 29th, 2009 NEW DELHI - State-run power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged an order worth Rs.170 crore from Chennai Petroleum Corp (CPC) to set up a gas turbine at its Manali refinery. BHEL will develop 20 MW co-generation power plant at CPC's Manali refinery.

June 26th, 2009 KOLKATA - Kesoram Industries plans to invest Rs.2,000 crore on capacity augmentation of its cement and tyre plants over the next 15 months, a top company official said here Friday. "Out of this, the Vasavadatta cement plant will receive Rs.750 crore to increase its capacity by 1.65 million tonnes," company chairman Basant Kumar Birla told reporters.

June 4th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Realty major Parsvnath Developers has bagged an order worth Rs.19.86 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corp for constructing a residential project at Mundka Depot here, the company said Thursday. In a regulatory statement, the company said it would build 130 flats during the second phase of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) project.

May 25th, 2009 NEW DELHI - IT infrastructure solutions provider HCL Infosystems Monday said it had bagged an order worth Rs.240 crore from state-run telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to implement a system integration project. The project, which will comprise over 60,000 enterprise resource planning (ERP) licences, is expected to help BSNL improve its information flow, cycle time, financial performance and information transparency.

April 2nd, 2009 MUMBAI - State-run engineering and manufacturing major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) Thursday reported 6.29 percent growth in net profit for 2008-09. The company said in a statement that its net profit rose to Rs.3,039 crore ($607.8 million) last year from Rs.2,859 crore the year before.

March 30th, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged a Rs.345 crore ($67.5 million) order from the Nuclear Power Corp of India (NPCI) for supply of four steam generators, it was announced Monday. The steam generators are critical and long lead equipment which will be supplied to the Kakrapar Atomic Power Project-3 and 4, L&T said in a statement.

February 26th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Construction and engineering major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Thursday said it has bagged new orders worth Rs.1,162 crore (Rs.11.62 billion) for the construction of factories and residential projects. The orders have been bagged by L&T's Buildings and Factories Operating Co, which is part of its construction division.
