L&T bags orders worth Rs.966 crore

October 6th, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged orders worth Rs.1,513 crore during the second quarter this fiscal, the company said Tuesday. Buildings and Factories Operating Co, part of L&T's construction division, has secured a Rs.621-crore contract from DB Hospitality Ltd for building a high-rise tower, India Tower, at Charni road, Mumbai.

September 11th, 2009 CHENNAI - Power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won a Rs.1,300-crore order from NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Co Ltd (NTECL) for supplying boilers, turbines and generators. NTECL, which is setting up a 3x500 MW power plant at Vallur near here, is a joint venture between power utility NTPC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

August 5th, 2009 MUMBAI - Construction and engineering major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Wednesday said it had bagged contracts worth Rs.853 crore for setting up coal handling plants in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. L&T has received a contract from Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVNL) and Neyveli Lignite Corp for setting up coal handling plants at Anpara in Uttar Pradesh and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, the company said in a regulatory statement.

July 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Construction and engineering major Punj Lloyd Monday said it has posted a net profit of Rs.125 crore in the first quarter this fiscal, up 27 percent from the Rs.98 crore it earned in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. Revenues increased 12 percent to Rs.2,979 crore, compared to Rs.2,658 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory statement.

July 10th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Engineering and construction conglomerate Punj Lloyd Friday said it has bagged three projects in Libya worth Rs.5,904 crore ($1.2 billion) for building commercial and residential complexes. The contracts were awarded to Sembawang Engineers and Constructors - a wholly-owned Punj Lloyd subsidiary in Tripoli, Libya - by the International Investment and Services Co, the company said in a regulatory statement.

July 1st, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged orders aggregating Rs.651 crore (Rs.6.51 billion/$135 million) for two hydrocarbon projects. It has won a Rs.440-crore contract from HPCL-Mittal Energy to build a greenfield refinery at Bathinda, the company said in a regulatory statement Wednesday.

June 24th, 2009 BANGALORE - Power and automation technology major ABB has bagged orders worth Rs.220 crore from Tata Projects to provide power solutions for a super-critical coal-fired power plant in Andhra Pradesh, the company said Wednesday. The 2x800 MW Krishnapatnam thermal power plant will deploy super-critical technology to ensure more efficient power generation and lower carbon dioxide emissions, ABB said in a regulatory statement.

June 4th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Realty major Parsvnath Developers has bagged an order worth Rs.19.86 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corp for constructing a residential project at Mundka Depot here, the company said Thursday. In a regulatory statement, the company said it would build 130 flats during the second phase of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) project.

May 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Rajasthan attracted investments worth Rs.69,052 crore, the highest among northern states, during 2008-09, a business chamber report released here Wednesday said. The report, 'Investment Prospects in Indian Economy 2008-09' by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham), said Haryana, which attracted investments worth Rs.52,852 crore, came second, followed by Uttarakhand with Rs.36,059 crore.

April 16th, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd has won orders worth Rs.308 crore ($62 million) from Bangalore Metro Rail Corp to build eight stations, the company said Thursday. The projects are to be completed in 22 months.

The company said in a statement that its net profit rose to Rs.3,039 crore ($607.8 million) last year from Rs.2,859 crore the year before.

March 31st, 2009 MUMBAI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged orders worth Rs.1,100 crore in the electrical construction sector in the January-March quarter, the company said Tuesday. The orders have come from two public sector organisations - Power Grid Corp of India Ltd (PGCIL) and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd - and involves setting up of high-end transmission lines and sub-stations as well as completing a project for the Indian Railways, a company statement said.

February 26th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Construction and engineering major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Thursday said it has bagged new orders worth Rs.1,162 crore (Rs.11.62 billion) for the construction of factories and residential projects. The orders have been bagged by L&T's Buildings and Factories Operating Co, which is part of its construction division.

January 22nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Friday said its joint venture in Oman has bagged orders worth $245 million (Rs.11.98 billion). The orders cover construction of a hotel and apartments for the second Asian Beach Games and a mosque and underground cabling in Oman, a statement by L&T (Oman) LLC said.
