September 30th, 2009 PATNA - The death toll in Bihar where two boats carrying Durga Puja revellers capsized in the Kosi and Bagmati rivers has risen to 65 with rescuers recovering 35 more bodies, officials said Wednesday. "Thirty-five more bodies have been recovered," Superintendent of Police Indranand Mishra said in Khagaria, about 200 km from here.

September 30th, 2009 PATNA - Thirty-five more bodies have been fished out of Bagmati River near Bihar's Khagaria district where a boat had capsized on Monday. With this, the death toll reached 56 as search continued by the National Disaster Response Force personnel to locate around 20 missing persons.

July 27th, 2009 A woman in Bihar chopped off genitals of her husband after he asked her to cook stolen chicken, police and villagers said today.  The bizarre incident took place at Minapur village under Piprahi police station in Sitamarhi district of Bihar. Witnesses said Haruti Khan stole a chicken from the house of his neihghbour Sunday evening and asked his wife to cook but she returned it back to her neighbour.

March 1st, 2009 PATNA - Five new cases of polio have been detected in Bihar in the first two months of this year despite immunisation drive, an official in the state health department said Saturday. This is three less than in Uttar Pradesh, which has had the highest incidence of the infection during 2008, a Unicef official said.

February 18th, 2009 PATNA - Five workers were found dead in the premises of an iron factory in the Bihar capital Thursday, police said pointing out that all the bodies bore injury marks. The bodies of the five workers of Magadh Iron factory were found in a room.
