Jewellery shop looted in Ghaziabad

September 28th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two people were arrested in Ghaziabad Monday and jewellery worth over Rs.10 million stolen from a shop in Karol Bagh area of the national capital recovered from them, police said Monday. Pappu Behra and Bappi Kumar, both residents of Orissa, were arrested from from NH-24 area of Indirapuram during routine vehicle checking.

August 19th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Seven unidentified men barged into a trader's house here Wednesday and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs.350,000, police said. The armed men entered hardware trader Ravi Verma's house at about 2.30 p.m.

July 27th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Four Nepali men employed at a Tanishq showroom in Ghaziabad allegedly fled with gold and diamond studded jewellery worth over Rs.5 million as well as cash, police said Monday. The theft came to light when the showroom, located on Ambedkar Road, was opened Monday morning and the staff found a number of diamond and jewellery articles missing from the boxes, a relative of showroom-owner Narendra Gupta said.

July 25th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Jewellery worth about Rs.1 million was burgled from the house of a lawyer here after the residents were bolted inside their bedrooms while they slept, police said Saturday. The incident occurred late Friday night in the posh Rajnagar area of Ghaziabad, police said.

June 21st, 2009 GHAZIABAD - In two separate incidents here, the houses of two software engineers were robbed of cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs.17 lakh, police said Sunday. In the first incident, Atul Tyagi, a software engineer who runs his own business and is a resident of Niti Khand in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad returned home from an outstation visit to find that his front gate lock had been broken and robbers had decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables worth Rs.15 lakh, police said.

May 22nd, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Three armed robbers looted Rs.1.2 million (Rs.12 lakh) from a bank here Friday afternoon, police said. According to the police, the robbers came on two motorcycles at 3.00 p.m.

March 7th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A contractor was Friday robbed of Rs.136,000 after nine armed men, including one of his clients, barged into his office here and thrashed him, the police said.
