Jewellery shop in Ghaziabad robbed of Rs.3.65 mn

September 28th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two people were arrested in Ghaziabad Monday and jewellery worth over Rs.10 million stolen from a shop in Karol Bagh area of the national capital recovered from them, police said Monday. Pappu Behra and Bappi Kumar, both residents of Orissa, were arrested from from NH-24 area of Indirapuram during routine vehicle checking.

September 14th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two armed masked men robbed a cooperative bank of over Rs.1.7 lakh here Monday, police said. The heist occurred Monday in Govindpuri locality under the Modinagar police station of Ghaziabad.

August 19th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Seven unidentified men barged into a trader's house here Wednesday and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs.350,000, police said. The armed men entered hardware trader Ravi Verma's house at about 2.30 p.m.

August 12th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - About a dozen armed men robbed the house of a retired Border Security Force (BSF) officer here of cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs.3 lakh, police said Wednesday. The robbery was followed by angry protests by locals who held a police inspector hostage for an hour.

June 21st, 2009 GHAZIABAD - In two separate incidents here, the houses of two software engineers were robbed of cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs.17 lakh, police said Sunday. In the first incident, Atul Tyagi, a software engineer who runs his own business and is a resident of Niti Khand in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad returned home from an outstation visit to find that his front gate lock had been broken and robbers had decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables worth Rs.15 lakh, police said.

May 23rd, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Motorcycle-borne men robbed two transport company employees of Rs.510,000 and stole valuables from the house of a businessman in this Uttar Pradesh town adjacent to the capital Saturday, police said. Two men on a black Pulsar motorcycle snatched a bag containing cash from Gopal Das, a manager with the National Transport Company, outside the RDC branch of HDFC bank at about 2.30 p.m.

May 11th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - The wife of an industrialist was murdered and their house robbed of jewellery and valuables worth Rs.20 lakhs here Monday, police said. Armed robbers barged into the couple's Satish Park residence in Modinagar and killed Urmila, 55, wife of Sarvish Dadu, owner of the Noida-based Mayur Cables Ltd, Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar told IANS.

April 30th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two armed men on a motorcycle robbed a 26-year-old salesman working with a telecom company here of Rs.1 lakh in cash and mobile re-charge coupons worth Rs.1.25 lakh, police said. Narendra Kumar was taking the cash and re-charge coupons in a bag to his company office in Vivekanand Nagar in Ghaziabad when he was intercepted by two motorcycle borne men.

According to the police, the three entered Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) officer Pradeep Srivastava's residence as construction labourers when his wife was alone at home.

February 27th, 2009 NOIDA - A jeweller was beaten up and robbed of cash and jewellery as he was on his way home after closing his shop in Noida, the police said Thursday. Mahesh Chand Verma, who owns a jewellery store in Bhangel Phase-11 area in Noida, was on his way home when he was intercepted the robbers.

February 21st, 2009 GHAZIABAD - In broad daylight, four motorcycle-borne men robbed a private company employee of Rs.400,000 at gunpoint here Friday, the police said. The incident occurred on national highway-24 near Lal Kuan in this suburb of the national capital.

February 15th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A wood trader of Delhi was shot at and robbed Monday by a former employee in Vaishali area of Ghaziabad, police said. Fakruddin, who was running a contract business in Ghaziabad, was approached by Feroz, a carpenter who had earlier worked for him with a request to be re-employed.

January 7th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Four robbers looted Rs.2 million in cash and jewellery worth Rs.1.8 million from a shop in this satellite town of the national capital, the police said Thursday. According to the police, the robbery was committed in a jewellery shop in Shalimar Garden, an upscale market in Ghaziabad.

January 7th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Markets in this Uttar Pradesh town remained closed Thursday to protest a spate of robberies targeting jewellery shops and other commercial establishments. The traders assailed the state police for not being able to prevent the robberies or arrest the criminals.
