It is extraordinary that representatives of four victims groups met with senior Roman Catholic bishops in Maynooth and pledge to meet again. How ‘ordinary’ that the typical response from the Irish bishops and Cardinal Sean Brady was the failure to admit responsibility in overseeing decades of abuse. Pass the buck–the Catholic organizations were self-governing.
