International Day against drug abuse observed in New Delhi

October 3rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Sleuths of the Special Operation Squad from the Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested Sabid Ali, an international drug peddler from the vicinity of a Metro railway station in New Delhi. Ali, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, is an international drug runner and had entered India from Nepal border.

September 23rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - A Nigerian national was arrested in the national capital with over one kg of heroin worth Rs.1 crore (Rs.10 million), Delhi Police said Wednesday. Banzi Babatunde, member of an international drug cartel, was arrested Tuesday from Lodhi Road area on a specific information, a police officer said.

September 14th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Three members of a drug peddlers' gang were arrested from the national capital with 2 kg of heroin, police said Monday. A team from Delhi Police's Narcotics Cell arrested the three men Sunday from Wazirabad area in north Delhi, a police officer said.

September 11th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Four people from Jharkhand, including a medicine bulk trader, were arrested and heroin worth Rs.15 million was seized, Delhi Police said Friday. According to Delhi Police's special cell, the inter-state gang of drug peddlers supplied heroin from Jharkhand to Delhi.

June 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - A Chinese man has been asked by police to stop sending funeral urns to his ex-girlfriend, warning that it is a form of abuse. The man in Tanghai, Hebei province, got separated with his ex-lover after he got a job in a neighbouring county last August.

June 6th, 2009 Jalandhar, June 6 (ANI): Police claimed to have busted an international drug racket with the arrest of three persons in Ludhiana. Police recovered heroin worth 200 million rupees, a revolver, 6 live cartridges and nine lakhs of rupees from their possession.

January 27th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A man wanted in 45 criminal cases, mostly related to drug trafficking, was arrested by the Ghaziabad police from Delhi, officials said Wednesday. Kallan, a resident of Main Bazar Kaila Bhatta in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, heads a five-member gang involved in drug trafficking.
