NTPC's annual profit up Rs.786 croreMay 22nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - The state-owned power utility NTPC Ltd, formerly National Thermal Power Corp, posted a net profit after tax of Rs.8,201 crore in 2008-09 against Rs.7,415 crore netted the last fiscal, an increase of Rs.786 crore, the company announced Friday. Total income increased from Rs.40,018 crore 2008-09 to Rs.45,273 crore the previous fiscal, NTPC said in a regulatory statement.
State Bank of India net profit up 45.62 percentMay 9th, 2009 MUMBAI - The country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) Saturday reported a 45.62 percent rise in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31. The bank said in a regulatory statement that its fourth quarter profit stood at Rs.2,742.31 crore, up from Rs.1,883.25 crore in the like period last year.
HDFC net profit down 6.3 percentMay 4th, 2009 MUMBAI - Major housing loan provider HDFC Monday said its net profit dipped 6.3 percent to Rs.2,282.54 crore for the year ended March 31 from Rs.2,436.25 crore the previous fiscal. The company's total income, however, rose 36.33 percent in 2008-09 to Rs.10,992.43 crore from Rs.8,062.8 crore it made in the previous year.
DLF net profit dips 41 percentMay 1st, 2009 MUMBAI - Realty major DLF Friday said its net profit dipped over 41 percent for the year ended March 31 to Rs.4,629 crore (Rs.46.29 billion/$938 million) from Rs.7,821 crore (Rs.78.21 billion/$1.6 billion) earned the previous year. The company's total consolidated income for the period under review was Rs.10,541 crore - a decrease of a little over 28 percent from the previous fiscal's Rs.14,684 crore.

DLF net profit down 71 percentFebruary 1st, 2009 MUMBAI - Realty major DLF's net profit has dipped 70.6 percent to Rs.1.78 billion (Rs.178 crore) for the quarter ended Dec 31, as compared to Rs.6.05 billion (Rs.605 crore) in the corresponding period last year. Total income was down 62.29 percent to Rs.6.83 billion (Rs.683 crore) till Dec 31 as compared to Rs.18.12 billion (Rs.1,812 crore) in the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory statement.
Jindal Steel posts Rs.12.75-bn lossJanuary 27th, 2009 MUMBAI - Private steel manufacturer Jindal Steel Wednesday announced standalone net loss of around Rs.1.28 billion (Rs.127.5 crore) for the quarter ended Dec 31, as against a profit of near Rs.3.56 billion (Rs.355.37 crore) in the year-ago period. In a regulatory statement, the company said its standalone net income was Rs.28.27 billion (Rs.2,826.74 crore), a marginal rise of 0.14 percent from around Rs.28.23 billion (Rs.2,822.74 crore) registered in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Tax officials raid 40 Surat unitsJanuary 19th, 2009 AHMEDABAD - The investigative wing of the Income-Tax department raided the factory premises of 40 textile and paint manufacturers in Surat Tuesday, an official said. The raids were conducted by a team of 150 sleuths, with senior officials from the Rajkot Income Tax Commissionerate joining in the raids.
