Indian Institute of Technologies is organizing IIT JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) entrance exam for bachelor degree in engineering. The type of questions appeared in this exam is more high compared to other entrances for engineering course.
Indian Institute of Technologies are without doubt the most prestigious institutes for engineering education in India. Students start preparing for IIT JEE years before the actual examination as it requires special effort and determination to crack IIT JEE.
At present there are 15 IITs (including 2 new IITs-IIT Himachal Pradesh and IIT Indore) for which admission is conducted through JEE. In addition, admission to IT BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad is also conducted through IIT JEE.
The forms of JEE 2010 will be available on third week of the month Nov, 09.
1. The forms can be bought from the designated branches of banks depending on the zone, details regarding which will be available with release of admission notification.
2. The forms can also be requested by sending a demand draft along with a request for the form.
3. A candidate can also apply online through IIT website by filling the required details in the online form and sending the printed form along with Demand Draft and other documents to specified IIT.
Cost of Application Form:
i) cost of application has been Rs 1,000 for general and OBC applicants
ii) Rs 500 for girls and Scheduled Caste.Tribe and Physically Disabled (PD) candidates,
iii) The reduction for online applicants will be Rs 900 for general and OBC categories and Rs 450 for SC/ST/PD and female, as told by Chairman Natarajan .
The last date to submit application form is of third week of Dec., 09.
Results will be declared in the Last week of the month May, 2010.
Eligibility Criteria for IIT JEE:
An applicant must have passed Intermediate (12th standard) or equivalent having 60% (55% for SC/ST applicants) in aggregate. Age limit is 25 years (30 yrs for SC/ST candidates) as on 1st October 2009. For SC/STs a candidate should not be more than 30 years. Only those candidates who have passed 12th in 2009 or are appearing in 2010 can appear for IIT JEE.
Pattern of examination:
In JEE Entrance Examination, candidates have to attempt 2 papers 3 hours each duration. Both papers are of objective type having objective type questions of Physics, Math and Chemistry. Negative marking will also be done for wrong answers. For IIT JEE 2010 syllabus, mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are main subjects.

There are two papers of 3 hours duration each. Both the papers have objective questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There will also be negative marking for incorrect answers.
While general category students can attend counselling online after the publication of the results, other those belonging to other categories have to visit the campus as usual.
JEE-2010 will be held on April 11 to fill 9,000 seats in 15 IITs across the country. Organisers expect 5 lakh applications this year, compared to 4 lakh during JEE-2009.
