Human traffickers’ gang busted, two arrested

September 14th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Three members of a drug peddlers' gang were arrested from the national capital with 2 kg of heroin, police said Monday. A team from Delhi Police's Narcotics Cell arrested the three men Sunday from Wazirabad area in north Delhi, a police officer said.

September 4th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Police have busted a gang of car thieves headed by a woman, who would lure men travelling alone at night by asking for a lift after which her accomplices would rob the victim of his vehicle and valuables, officials said Friday. Police started investigations following a spurt in the number of cases where cars would be stolen through a similar modus operandi.

August 4th, 2009 NAWANSHAHR - Punjab police busted a fake currency racket here and arrested four people including a resident of Nepal. Counterfeit Indian currency notes with a face value of rupees 565,000 were recovered from the men arrested in Nawanshahr city.

August 3rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Delhi Police Monday said they have busted a gang of burglars involving tribesmen from Rajasthan after two of them were arrested for breaking into the house of a sessions judge. Gopal, 25, and Ganpat, 24, from a Rajasthan nomadic tribe were arrested Sunday.

July 21st, 2009 NEW DELHI - Delhi Police's Special Cell Tuesday said it has arrested seven men people and busted a syndicate working for a multinational bank, with gang members posing as policemen and lawyers to threaten customers to pay up dues. Police recovered a laptop, computer peripherals, eight mobile phones and incriminating documents from their possession.

July 5th, 2009 NEW DELHI - An auto lifters' gang operating in the south Delhi area was busted here Sunday with the arrest of six people, police said. The leader of the gang, Manoj Kumar alias Thakur, 22, and his accomplices Manoj alias Jagga, 22, Shashank, 19, Dipanker, 24 - all residents of south Delhi - as well as Ajeet Kumar, 21, and Sanjay Kumar, 22, residents of Ghaziabad and Baraut in Uttar Pradesh were arrested Sunday.

June 23rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Two people were arrested and two priceless antique idols were recovered from them as Delhi Police's Crime Branch said Tuesday it had busted a gang involved in smuggling of such artefacts. January 8th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Eleven people - allegedly part of a gang of thief and robbers - were arrested in Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh Friday, the police said. Three other men who are part of the gang are absconding, the police said.

December 26th, 2008 LUCKNOW - Five men were arrested and an inter-state gang dealing in weapons has been busted in Uttar Pradesh, police said Saturday. The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police detained the men in the early hours from the Chinhat locality of Lucknow.
