Hizb terrorist killed in Jammu and Kashmir

October 10th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three terrorists who tried to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan were killed Saturday along the Line of Control (LoC), police here said. A police officer said that soldiers spotted a group of heavily-armed men in Gurez sector of LoC, which divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

October 6th, 2009 JAMMU - A top leader of the Hizbul Mujahideen was killed early Tuesday when security forces engaged militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said. Though Mohammed Osama had been gunned down, three to four militants were still hiding.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 15 people were killed and many others were missing when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday afternoon, officials said. According to reports reaching here, the bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu.

August 19th, 2009 JAMMU - At least two militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen were killed by security forces in a gunbattle that started Wednesday morning and was continuing till late evening in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. A divisional commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen and three of his associates were involved in the exchange of bullets underway in Kishtwar's Chatroo area, 230 km northeast of Jammu, police said.

June 22nd, 2009 JAMMU - Three terrorists were killed in a day-long fierce gun-battle in Gulabgarh area in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district Monday, police said. The three militants belonged to Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen, a police spokesman said.

The terrorists were killed in a joint operation by police and army in Manthala forest, about 200 km from here.

May 8th, 2009 JAMMU - Three people - the bridegroom, his father, and the bride's mother - were killed when militants from the Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen attacked a wedding party in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said Friday. The attack was reportedly led by a militant who wanted to marry the bride.

May 4th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 20 people were killed and 10 injured when the mini bus they were travelling in fell into the Chenab river in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday morning, police said. The accident occurred at about 9 a.m.

Hizbul Mujahideen district commander Mohammed Yousuf was killed in Dera Talab forest area in Kishtwar district, about 230 km northeast of Jammu, the spokesman said.

February 25th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 25 people were killed and 17 injured in a bus accident in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday morning, police said. The accident took place when the bus skidded off the road and fell into Neeru nullah, a tributary of Chenab river at Pul Doda in Doda district, about 170 km north-east of Jammu, the state's winter capital.

January 22nd, 2009 JAMMU - Two members of pro-Pakistan terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen were gunned down in a shootout with the Jammu and Kashmir police Friday. A senior police officer said they had received an input about the presence of some militants in mountainous forest of Gandoh in Doda district, about 200 km from here.
