CHANDIGARH - Alarmed over rising pollution levels, the Haryana government Monday announced that compressed natural gas (CNG) will be made mandatory for public transport in all national capital region (NCR) towns that fall in the state’s territory.
Haryana’s Environment and Finance Minister Ajay Singh Yadav, who chaired a meeting here Monday on the rising pollution in the state, asked the concerned departments of the state government to ensure that adequate number of CNG outlets are opened in the NCR area to cater to the increased demand in view of the new order.
Delhi is surrounded by Haryana on three sides by the districts of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rohtak and Sonepat.
It is mandatory for public transport vehicles in New Delhi to use CNG as fuel to reduce pollution levels in the national capital.
