Haryana campaign ends Sunday evening, Sonia to hold rallies

October 7th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday said the controversial issue of sharing of water between Haryana and Punjab should be sorted out through talks. The water sharing has been a thorny issue between both states with Haryana seeking completion of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and Punjab opposing the move.

October 6th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi will campaign extensively for the Oct 13 assembly elections in Maharashtra. According to party sources, the Gandhis will address a series of rallies for the party which is contesting in 174 of the 288 constituencies in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

September 20th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Congress has warned those eyeing a party ticket for next month's Haryana assembly elections not to use photographs of party president Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to promote their candidature. August 21st, 2009 CHANDIGARH - Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia Friday evening dissolved the state assembly, just hours after the Haryana cabinet recommended its dissolution. An official spokesman confirmed to IANS that the the governor issued a notification Friday evening, dissolving the state assembly.

May 5th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - Campaigning for all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and four seats in Punjab ended Tuesday evening with top leaders from leading parties trying to woo the electorate on the last day of electioneering. Voting for these seats will be held May 7.

April 12th, 2009 KOLKATA - Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will share the campaign platform with Congress president Sonia Gandhi April 27 at a rally in West Bengal's Jangipur, from where External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha. This was decided at a late Saturday meeting between Mukherjee and Mamata at the former's south Kolkata residence.

March 31st, 2009 RANCHI - Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Jharkhand to campaign for party candidates in the Lok Sabha polls. Rahul Gandhi is arriving in Jharkhand Wednesday and will address two public rallies, while Sonia Gandhi will campaign in the state next week, Rabindra Singh, spokesperson of the state Congress told reporters.

March 6th, 2009 BANGALORE - Dharma Raksha Vedike (DRV), a sister organisation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), will hold a series of rallies across Karnataka next week to protect Hindu religion, a representative of the right wing group said Thursday. 'The first rally will be held in Bangalore March 8, followed by two more rallies in Mysore and Mangalore next week.
