August 21st, 2009 ROHTAK - Passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has been allotted 700 acres here by the Haryana government for its proposed research and development (R&D) facility. A land allotment agreement was signed by Maruti Suzuki managing director and chief executive Shinzo Nakanishi and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp managing director Rajeev Arora here Friday.

August 17th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - New lakes will be dug and reservoirs built, while old ones will be renovated by the Haryana government to fight drought in the future, the state's finance minister has announced. The Haryana government has decided to dig big lakes and will renovate the old ones in the state to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers in adverse circumstances, a state government spokesman said Monday quoting the minister, Birendra Singh.

August 4th, 2009 BHOPAL - A Karnataka-based company will set up a bio-gas plant in Madhya Pradesh to produce power from 'bhusa' (wheat chaff) and corn stems. ASN Industries will set up the 7.5 MW bio-gas plant at Katni district at an investment of Rs.30 crore, government officials said.

June 11th, 2009 HYDERABAD - Andhra Pradesh cabinet Thursday approved setting up of a power plant equipment unit in Chittoor district and allotted 750 acres of land for the same. NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL), a joint venture between the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), will establish the unit at Mannavaram village near the temple town of Srikalahasti with an investment of Rs.60 billion (Rs.6,000 crore).

February 22nd, 2009 DURGAPUR - The 450,000 tonne alloy and stainless steel division of Jai Balaji Industries' integrated steel plant at Banskopa here was inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Saturday. The Rs.2.25 billion division includes an oxygen and argon plant, bloom and blister caster, and is likely to provide employment to more than 1,000 people, Jai Balaji's chairman and managing dierector Aditya Jajodia told reporters.

February 12th, 2009 RANCHI - Steel major ArcelorMittal will be given government land to set up its proposed Rs.400-billion (Rs.40,000-crore) steel project in Jharkhand, state Industries Director Rahul Sharma said Friday. 'We have asked ArcelorMittal representatives to deposit Rs.12.5 crore (Rs.125 million) to Gumla district to get 1,000 acres of government land.

December 28th, 2008 KOLKATA - The West Bengal government Monday allotted 748.97 acres to Jai Balaji Industries for setting up a five-million-tonne integrated steel plant at Raghunathpur in Purulia district. 'We will get another 250 acres over and above this within the next 10-15 days,' company chairman and managing director Aditya Jajodia said after receiving the land allotment order from state industries minister Nirupam Sen.
