Five killed in Uttar Pradesh road accident

September 16th, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - Six pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh on their way back from Orissa's temple town of Puri were killed when their bus was hit by a speeding truck, police said Thursday. Three more people were critically injured in the incident that took place late Wednesday in Bhadrak district.

September 13th, 2009 AGRA - At least two people were killed in a blast in a fireworks manufacturing factory in a village near this Uttar Pradesh city Sunday morning, police said. The accident occurred in the Nagla Gola village, 20 km from Agra, around 9 Sunday morning.

August 19th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 16 people, including four children, were killed Wednesday when the passenger bus in which they were travelling veered off the road and fell into a gorge in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said. The accident occurred in the Mansehra area.

June 19th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Eleven members of a family died and two others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district Friday, police said. The accident occurred on the Mohna Road in Azamgarh district," district police chief Ramit Sharma told IANS on phone.

May 2nd, 2009 LUCKNOW - Six members of a family, including three children and two women, were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh in the early hours Saturday, police said. Eleven members of a family were returning from a marriage in their Wagon R when it collided head-on with another vehicle in the Lohra Mau locality of the district at around 3 a.m.

April 17th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Five people were killed and four injured when an ambulance they were travelling in was hit by a bus in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district early Friday, police said. The victims, all belonging to the same family, were going to the district hospital to donate blood to a relative when the accident took place at about 5 a.m.

February 6th, 2009 LUCKNOW - At least 11 people of the same family were killed in Uttar Pradesh Saturday evening when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a speeding truck, the police said. The accident occurred on the Kadaura road in Jalaun district, some 250 km from here, district police chief G.P.

February 3rd, 2009 LUCKNOW - At least eight people were killed and six injured in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck Wednesday morning, police said. 'The accident took place this morning (Wednesday) in Kathghar locality,' Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar told IANS on telephone.

The accident took place near the Unchahar railway station in Rae Bareli district, some 40 km from here.

January 7th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Four gangsters who had committed many crimes in Uttar Pradesh were killed in a shootout with the police though two managed to escape Thursday evening, the police said. 'The four were involved in cases of loot, dacoity, contract killing and highway robbery,' Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal told IANS.

January 5th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Seven members of a family were killed Tuesday when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh, police said. The accident took place when a jeep in which the family was travelling collided head-on with a speeding truck in Sultanpur district, about 15 km from here, along the Sultanpur-Varanasi route.

December 23rd, 2008 LUCKNOW - Four school children died and four others were injured when the school van they were travelling in was hit by a roadways bus in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday morning, the police said. The accident took place in Kutubsher locality in Saharanpur, some 350 km from here, when the van was ferrying the children to school.
