Five killed in Pakistan hotel blast

August 17th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 10 people were killed in a suicide blast at a town in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, media reports said Friday. The reports said the suicide blast took place in a market in Kohat town and several shops were completely destroyed in the blast.

July 15th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least four people were killed Wednesday in an explosion at a fireworks factory in eastern Pakistan, TV reports said. The incident occurred in Muridke city of Punjab province.

June 30th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Four people were killed and three injured Tuesday in a blast at a petrol pump in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, TV reports said. The blast occurred in a car parked at a petrol pump near the Quetta-Karachi Highway, Geo TV said citing police officials.

June 11th, 2009 UNITED NATIONS - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday strongly condemned the bombing of a luxury hotel in Pakistan's northwestern Peshawar city in which at least 11 people were killed, including an UN official. In a statement issued here, Ban said he was saddened by the "large number of dead and wounded", including a UN refugee agency staff who died in the attack.

June 11th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - The United States has handed over four MI-17 cargo helicopters to the Pakistan Army to facilitate its counter-terrorism operation. "On a request by the Government of Pakistan, the United States delivered four MI-17 cargo helicopters to the Pakistani Army," US embassy spokesman Lou Finor said here.

June 9th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least five people were killed and 25 injured when a huge explosion ripped through the Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's restive North Western Frontier Province (NWFP), officials said. The blast partially demolished the building, which is located near a military base and an important government building in a high-security zone.

May 16th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least nine people, including six children, were killed in a blast Saturday in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, according to a media report.
