October 12th, 2009 NEW DELHI - A few hours after a seven-year-old boy was kidnapped outside his east Delhi home, police in neighbouring Faridabad town Monday found his body in a car being driven by his relative, who was then arrested. Gulshan Jain alias Sonu, a class 1 student, was kidnapped when he was playing outside his Krishna Nagar house Sunday evening.

September 9th, 2009 FARIDABAD - One person was killed and several others were feared trapped inside the debris of a three-storey building, which collapsed on Wednesday in Haryana's Faridabad district. According to the police, at least two people were taken out of the debris with serious injuries shortly after City Centre building, collapsed.

August 17th, 2009 NEW DELHI - With an eye to the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Haryana will raise a fourth commando unit among a slew of steps being taken to beef up security in the national capital region (NCR), Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Monday. Speaking at the meeting of chief ministers on internal security, Hooda outlined the Haryana government's plans to strengthen the police system in the satellite towns of Delhi - Faridabad and Gurgaon.

August 2nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Shrugging off recession worries, the national capital region (NCR) has recorded a 17.1 percent surge in jobs creation in the first four months of this fiscal against the last four months of the previous fiscal, according to a study by a business body. The study, Job Opportunities in the National Capital, conducted by the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) concludes that during April-July 2009, as many as 49,750 openings were created in the NCR of Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad against 42,501 openings in the last four months of 2008-09.

May 25th, 2009 NEW DELHI - As many as 10,035 candidates cleared the Joint Entrance Examination-2009 (JEE-2009) for admission to 15 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) with 17-year-old Nitin Jain from Faridabad topping the list, it was announced Monday. The 10,035 candidates - 1,048 girls and 8,987 boys - have been declared successful to seek admission for 8,295 seats in the IITs at Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi (Himachal Pradesh), Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan, Roorkee, IT-Banaras Hindu University and ISMU Dhanbad, said a statement released here by IIT-Delhi.

May 3rd, 2009 FARIDABAD - Ten workers were killed and at least five were still missing after a fire broke out at a factory in Faridabad near New Delhi, authorities said Sunday, adding that an inquiry was ordered. The factory, belonging to Lakhani footwear of the Lakhani-Vardhman group and located in sector-24 industrial area, was to shut for the day Friday evening when there was a sudden blast and high flames soon engulfed the packaging department.

March 26th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Three men were arrested Thursday for raping a minor girl in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi Wednesday night. The 14-year-old girl, who worked as a maid, was taken to a vacant plot in the night by Sanjay, where he and two others, identified as Pradeep and Naresh, raped her.

March 22nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - The body of a missing call centre employee has been found in Faridabad, next to the national capital, police said Saturday. Sagrika Ghosh, resident of Vasant Vihar in south Delhi, was missing since Tuesday.

January 6th, 2009 SHIMLA - An antique Buddha icon weighing about 20 kg has been recovered from a Himachal Pradesh village, police said Wednesday. 'We recovered an antique bronze icon of Buddha during a raid at a village in Hamirpur district Monday night,' Hamirpur Superintendent of Police Asif Jalal told IANS.
