September 30th, 2009 AGARTALA - At least 20 persons, including children and women, were injured when a makeshift Durga puja tent collapsed due to strong wind here last night. The incident took place when the tent was full of devotees who had come to seek blessings from Goddess Durga at the end of the Durga Puja festival.

September 24th, 2009 SILIGURI - To decorate the idols of Goddess Durga, members belonging to a particular artistic community in Siliguri are these days engrossed in creating traditional ornaments called 'Dak Shaj' used extensively during the Durga Puja festival. The 'Dak Shaj' is the conventional form of decoration and ornamentation of the idol of Goddess Durga, which are sets of ornaments made out of thermocol, mica and other glowing materials.

The 'Tablas' have been used to decorate the Pandal or, makeshift tent from inside and outside, as it would be visited by a large number of devotees on this religious occasion of Durga Puja.

September 19th, 2009 KOLKATA - Hundreds of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activists Saturday clashed with supporters of the opposition Trinamool Congress here over the issue of setting up their party's book stalls at a Durga puja pandal, triggering tension in the area. Agitated activists of both parties also staged a three-hour-long road blockade at the APC Bose Road and Sukia Street crossing - considered one of the major arteries in the northern part of Kolkata.
