The minimum support price (MSP) for the common variety of paddy has been hiked by 100 rupees per quintal, while for pulses, the MSP has been raised by 100 rupees per quintal.

August 18th, 2009 MUMBAI - Direct-to-home (DTH) major DishTV Tuesday said it will raise up to $200 million (Rs.1,000 crore) through issue of securities in the domestic and international markets. The company's shareholders approved in the annual general meeting the issuance of securities, including foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs), global depository receipts (GDRs) and private placement of shares to institutional investors for raising an aggregate amount of $200 million, Dish TV said in a regulatory statement.

August 18th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The government Tuesday cleared 10 foreign direct investment (FDI) proposals worth Rs.1,123 crore ($230.5 billion), including one by DishTV to raise Rs.750 crore through convertible bonds. Vijay Mallya-promoted United Breweries' proposal to issue convertible warrants worth Rs.219 crore also got the Foreign Investment Promotion Board's (FIPB) approval.

July 29th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Reliance Power has posted a net profit of Rs.100.56 crore ($21 million) for the quarter ended June 30 as against Rs.59.7 crore reported in the like period last year. The total income has increased to Rs.144.24 crore from Rs.77.67 crore, the company said in a statement.

July 6th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The government will allocate Rs.100 crore for about 1,000 villages with higher population of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said while presenting the budget for 2009-10 in parliament Monday. The scheme, currently on a pilot basis, will be extended in the coming years, he said.

June 25th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Sugar mills will have to pay more to cane growers after the government Thursday increased the statutory minimum price for sugarcane by over 32 percent to Rs.107.76 per quintal for the 2009-10 season. It was Rs.81.18 per quintal in the previous October-September season.

January 30th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Three days after the government announced reduction in petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices, state-run oil companies Saturday slashed the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by four percent. The ATF price in New Delhi will go down Rs.1,208 per kilolitre to Rs.30,288 from Saturday midnight, an Indian Oil Corp official said.

January 22nd, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Planning Commission has agreed to allocate an outlay of Rs.100 billion (Rs.10,000 crore) to Haryana for 2009-10, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Friday. The outlay is over 50 percent more than the total outlay of Rs.66.5 billion (Rs.6,650 crore) approved for the state last fiscal.
