Dirt track racing championship begins in Indore

October 5th, 2009 IRUNGATTUKOTTAI - Spectators thronged to witness the finals of the national road racing championship held in Irungattukottai city of Tamil Nadu. More than 100 drivers participated in the close neck to neck races held in different categories.

October 5th, 2009 RAIPUR - About 60 riders took part in the Dirt Supercross Bike Competition here on Sunday. Participants, including a dozen from the state, from different parts of the country, took part in the championship.

June 27th, 2009 COIMBATORE - With 60 participants from across the country, the first round of the National Rally Championship 2009 began in Coimbatore on Saturday. National champion Vikram Mathias and winner of Malaysian Asia Pacific Championship and the Production World Rally Championship Gaurav Gill are also taking part in the rally.

May 15th, 2009 CHENNAI - The JK Tyre Indian National Rotax Max Karting championship, comprising five rounds, will commence next month in Coimbatore, Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) said. The Championship, promoted by Meco Motorsports will be run in three classes - Micro Max, Junior Max and Senior Max.

May 15th, 2009 BANGALORE - Red Rooster Racing is set to become the first Indian team to enter the Petronas FIM Asian GP two-wheeler series this year with participation of four of its riders - K Rajini, Preetam Dev Moses, Rohit Giri and Sameer Venugopal. Of the four, Giri and Venugopal would be riding only in the Indian leg of the series to be held at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, in September, while Rajini and Moses, both National champions in their respective classes, will participate in six rounds, according to Dinesh Reddy, Managing Director, Red Rooster Racing.

April 22nd, 2009 CHENNAI - The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India has lowered the age limit for participation in its 2009 Indian National Road Racing Championship for two wheelers, that begins in June, to 13 years. These riders will be permitted to participate in the unmodified class (Group D) up to 130cc and moped categories, according to Rajan Syal, Chief Executive, FMSCI.

April 2nd, 2009 BANGALORE - Armaan Ebrahim, the only Indian entry in the inaugural Formula-two series this year, received a boost as Red Rooster Racing announced it would offer the 19-year-old from Chennai financial support. Though the sponsorship amount was not officially disclosed, it is learnt that Red Rooster has offered a package of Rs.2.5 million.

April 2nd, 2009 BANGALORE - Red Rooster Racing, the reigning National Rally champions, will again field a two-car team for the 2009 season. Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the team, Roosters' managing director Dinesh Reddy said they have retained Vikram Mathias (co-driver PVS Murthy) and Amittrajit Ghosh (co-driver Ashwin Naik) for the 2009 Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) that is expected to get underway in late May or early June.

March 31st, 2009 CHENNAI - Chennai-based Meco Racing, a division of Meco Motorsports Pvt Ltd, has set up its own team to participate in the four-round Asian Rotax Max Karting championship. Meco Racing will enter five talented Indian youngsters Samyak Shah (Mumbai) in the senior class, Sandeep Kumar, Shashank Ravishankar (both from Chennai), Raj Bharath Swaminathan from Bangalore and Mitra Yerawadekar (Pune) in the junior class.

February 13th, 2009 CHENNAI - It would seem that the veterans cannot be kept away if one were to go by Akbar Ebrahim's pace in a modified Esteem in which he scorched the MMST track at Sriperumbudur with a sub-two minute lap of the 3.717 Km circuit to set the tone for the 12th JK Tyre National Racing Championship that began here Saturday. Not surprisingly, Ebrahim, India's first-ever international Formula race driver, took the pole position in the newly-introduced Super Saloon car class, ahead of two other veterans, B.Vijayakumar and C.Rajaram.

February 10th, 2009 CHENNAI - Bucking the recessionary trend that has severely impacted motor sport internationally, the Indian domestic series will come under starter's orders as the first round of the 2009 JK Tyre National Racing championship gets underway Saturday at the MMST track in Sriperumbudur, about 40 km from here this weekend. The two-day event will be the first of the six rounds scheduled for the season that will extend from Feb 14-15 to Oct 3-4.

'A survey for the Metro Rail project in Bhopal and Indore would be started in a month's time by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)', Gaur told reporters here Thursday.
