CPI to launch countrywide agitation against high prices

September 12th, 2009 MUMBAI/NEW DELHI - Normal flight operations of Jet airways will resume Sunday after the airline's pilots decided late Saturday to end their five day old agitation following successful talks with the management, the airline said. Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said in a press statement that an amicable agreement has been arrived, effective Sunday.

August 21st, 2009 AGRA - Concluding a three-day National Conference here on Friday, a sulking Samajwadi Party leadership accused the Congress of being "opportunistic" and announced a mass agitation programme against UPA government, but ruled out withdrawal of outside support to it for now. March 31st, 2009 NEW DELHI - After raising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices March 15 by about 1.69 percent, or Rs.162 per kilolitre (kl), state-run oil companies once again raised prices by an average of Rs 2,750 per kl. ATF will now cost around Rs.29,900 per kl, or about 10 percent more, industry source said.

December 23rd, 2008 NEW DELHI - Truckers have threatened to go on a country wide indefinite strike from Jan 5 if diesel price was not slashed by Rs.8 a litre. Vinish Khanna, joint secretary of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), which has called for the strike, told IANS that transporters were dissatisfied with the diesel price cut of Rs.2, announced earlier this month.
