College students in Chhattisgarh suspended for ragging juniors

September 19th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here Saturday withdrew a month-old order rusticating nine students for two years from academics for ragging juniors and reduced their punishment. Those who were rusticated for two years from academics have been asked to continue education but they cannot stay in the hostel for two years, said a senior official who was involved on the process.

September 10th, 2009 RAIPUR - Five tribal students of a government-run school in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district have been suspended for ragging after over a dozen junior students complained that they were forced by the seniors to stroll naked in the hostel complex and beaten, an official said. The five suspended students were studying in Class 10.

September 10th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Six students of a private engineering college have been detained for allegedly ragging a student in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, police said Thursday. Police detained the six students, who are in their second year at Ganeshi Lal Narayandas Institute of Technology, Wednesday night for ragging Vikas Parashar, a first year student.
