Chidambaram says maximum effort on to counter infiltration in KashmirOctober 7th, 2009 MUMBAI - Applauding the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir security forces' to counter terror from across the border, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said state police were putting an all out effort to curb infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC). Addressing the media here, Chidambaram said, "Kashmir police is doing a commendable job and are putting all efforts to curb infiltration along the LoC."
Speaking about the ongoing operation to flush out nine militants in forests near the Pampore region of the state, he said, "Jammu and Kashmir police is now prepared to be the frontline of the state's security and they are taking the lead to fight these terrorists."
He also dismissed a report that Taliban militants are being pushed into Jammu and Kashmir to foment terror, saying that security forces were ready to deal with any situation.
