"The government plans to further lower the agriculture interest loan in the state to two percent and one percent in phase-wise manner from the existing three percent, and then reduce it to zero percent, Chief Minister Raman Singh said, according to an official press statement Friday.

Chhattisgarh's per capita debt rises to Rs.5,995July 20th, 2009 RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh Monday said the state's per capita debt rose to Rs.5,995 last fiscal from Rs.4,596.67 in 2003-04. He told the state assembly that the per capita debt burden was Rs.4,881.51 in 2004-05 and went up to to Rs.5,370.61 in 2006-07.
NTPC to set up 4,000 MW power plant in ChhattisgarhJuly 11th, 2009 RAIPUR - India's largest power producer NTPC, formerly National Thermal Power Corp, Sunday signed an agreement with the Chhattisgarh government for setting up a 4,000 MW coal-fired power plant on an investment of Rs.20,000 crore. Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who was present during signing of the pact, said the plant would be set up in the coal-rich Raigarh district.
