July 24th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Friday asked all state governments to provide a detailed report of their objectives in the field of higher education by 2020 within a three month deadline. "In the next three months...each state must give its vision as to what it wishes to do by 2020 in the filed of higher education," he said at a conference here attended by higher education secretaries of states," Sibal said.

July 22nd, 2009 New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram said the Centre has directed States to take action against manufactures of illegal weapons and ammunition, as some of this is being accessed by Naxalites and other militant groups. Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Chidambaram said there were some reports about arms and ammunition manufacturing units in some states, and the Home Ministry has directed such states to take stringent action.

July 3rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - In a bid to modernize country's paramilitary forces, Centre will provide arms, ammunition and vehicles worth 500 crore rupees to seven paramilitary forces by September end. According to the Action Plan -II of the Ministry of Home Affairs, orders worth 500 crore rupees will be processed by the Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMFs) and Ministry of Home Affairs.
