Carnival Corp. third-quarter results at a glance

HOW THEY DID: For the three months that ended Aug. 31, the Miami-based cruise operator Carnival Corp. earned $1.07 billion, or $1.33 share. That’s down 19.5 percent from $1.33 billion, or $1.65 per share, in last year’s third quarter. Revenue fell 14 percent to $4.14 billion from $4.81 billion in the same period last year

WALL STREET EXPECTATIONS: Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected a profit of $1.18 per share on revenue of $4.05 billion.

WHAT’S NEXT: For the full year, Carnival now expects to earn between $2.16 per share and $2.20 per share, up from $2 per share to $2.10 per share. In the fourth quarter, it expects to earn between 16 cents and 20 cents per share.
