Canada beats Sweden 3-1, advances to worlds final

BERN, Switzerland — Canada beat Sweden 3-1 at the hockey world championships Friday to set up a rematch of last year’s final against Russia.

Russia beat the United States 3-2 in an earlier semifinal to advance to Sunday’s title game. Sweden plays the U.S. for the bronze medal.

Canada got a goal from Derek Roy in the first period. Goals from Shawn Horcoff and Roy again in the second period sealed the victory. Loui Eriksson scored in the third period for Sweden.

Canada goaltender Dwayne Roloson had 22 saves for the win. Jonas Gustavsson had 29 stops for Sweden.

In last year’s final, the Russians trailed by two goals in the third period but won 5-4 in overtime.
