Budget session begins on stormy note

August 7th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die on Friday concluding the first, month long session of the newly constituted House. Friday was the concluding day of the ongoing budget session of the 15th Lok Sabha, which began on July 2 with the presentation of the Economic Survey, followed by the Railway Budget on July 3 and the General Budget on July 6.

August 7th, 2009 NEW DELHI - After a month long session that commenced on July 2, the budget cum monsoon session of the 15th Lok Sabha will end today. Along with annual Railway Budget and General Budget for the year 2009-10, a number of important Bills, including the Right to Free and Compulsory Education, were passed by Parliament.

'The Congress would raise various issues like total failure of public distribution system, deteriorating law and order in the state, and the government taking credit over projects initiated by the previous government,' state Congress president Kaul Singh Thakur told reporters.
